March 10: Revival of the Fisherman’s Sake in Hometown Namie! A Journey to Experience the Connections Forged Through Sake Brewing

《Raise a toast to the future of Namie Town with the master brewer and toji passionately crafting sake in Fukushima and Yamagata!

On March 11, it will be 14 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. We invite you to join us in Namie Town, where we will be hosted by Daisuke Suzuki of Suzuki Sake Brewery, to see, hear, and feel the current state of Namie. Daisuke will share his experiences from the time of the earthquake, discuss the ongoing reconstruction efforts in Namie, and guide us through the “Suzuki Sake Brewery Namie Town,” which resumed operations in 2021. At the time the earthquake struck, we will offer a moment of silence for the victims from Ukedo Fishing Port.

This tour also includes a pottery experience at “Tokichirogama Kiln,” which returned to the Obori district of Namie after a partial lifting of the difficult-to-return zone this year, and visits to Shibaei Suisan, an early business to resume operations in Namie. During the social gathering, we will toast to the future with sake from Suzuki Sake Brewery. Come and feel the spirit of Namie Town as it overcomes hardships and moves forward into the future.
